Safety message from DVC Campus Police

As the semester begins, we want to welcome everyone to Diablo Valley College. The College District Police Department would like to provide some Safety Tips to help you stay safe and keep your valuables from going missing.
  • Do not leave valuables in plain view inside of your parked vehicles. Try to take them with you when you leave your vehicle. Leaving them in open view even for a minute gives potential thieves an opportunity to take your belongings.
  • Never leave electronics, books and bags unattended out of your sight. If you leave your desk or the room take all of your belongings with you.
  • When walking to your vehicles at the end of the night, try and stay on pathways that are well-lit. Police Services does provide escorts to your vehicles. If you would like a member of Police Services to provide you with a safety escort please contact our office at (925) 686-5547.
We hope that everyone has a great year here at Diablo Valley College!

Policy on skateboarding, skating, and bicycling on campus

In accordance with V.C. 21113(f), the use of bicycles, motorized bicycles, electric bicycles, skateboards, electrically motorized boards, and roller skates on the DVC campus is strictly prohibited.

DVC recognizes that students, faculty, and staff use multiple means of transportation to come to campus. While honoring the importance of personal choice, the college must also consider the safety and well-being of the campus community and visitors, as well as the preservation of college property. In an effort to balance community safety and the ability to use these means of transportation to get to and from the college, DVC has determined it necessary to do more to enforce the existing policy.

Procedure for enforcement and non-compliance

Police Services Officers are authorized to take action on individuals violating campus policy. In addition to a potential citation and fine, all DVC students who refuse to comply with this policy may also be referred to the Vice President of Student Services (or Designee) for disciplinary action. For non-DVC students, Police Services may issue a citation, impose a fine, and/or restrict access to the campus for a designated period of time.

Be watchful of your belongings and visit the lost and found

Just a reminder to use extra vigilance in watching over your personal belongings. Thefts are common at this time of the year and we don't want it to happen to you. Please keep your belongings safely under watch at all times.

If you do lose an item, be sure to visit the lost and found located at Police Services . Pleasant Hill Campus Police Services are located next to the Engineering Technology Building, parking lot 1. San Ramon Campus  Police Services are located in W-102.
